THE STORY
Our clients, Garth and Cathy James have been on a journey of design discovery and we’re proud of what they’ve achieved with our help.
The James’ were nearing retirement, their friends had already begun moving up the KZN North Coast, and their existing living situation was becoming less safe. They needed sanctuary, security and a space where friends and family could visit and stay. Who could help them?
They considered Maker d+a a good fit for them - we understood their concern for safety and their desire for something special. we were able to guide them in choosing a site that would offer a unique opportunity for good design. Once securing the special location the design phase could begin.
The initial sketches started putting ideas into reality and those sparked further, more detailed design ideas. At this point consultants were brought on to provide engineering and costing resulting in a fully resolved solution reducing the risk of surprises down the line. We were able to guide the choice of site, the design process and idea generation through a good brief provided by the client and regular feedback.
Attention on site during the build and a good project team meant that the set budget and time frame could be met. To have any chance of making the dream a reality meant having a thorough process, a well documented design, all approvals in place and a good team to manage it all.
The dream was realised under budget and on time and our clients could proudly celebrate with friends and family in their new home.
